At Sam’s Superheroes Foundation, we’re dedicated to making a difference for families affected by FIRES (Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome). Your fundraising efforts can help us:

Fund vital FIRES research: We’re on a mission to raise £50,000 to support ground breaking research into the causes, treatments, and ultimately a cure for FIRES.

Family support for those facing NORSE and FIRES helping cover essential costs such as specialist equipment, therapy, day trips, rehab, education, holidays or experiences.

Provide animal-assisted and creative therapies for children, bringing comfort and hope when it’s needed most. They also keep our Derbyshire Therapy Dog service running with Daisy, our superhero black Labrador.

Organise a fun and family-friendly scootering event in your local community, encouraging participants of all ages to scoot, skate, or cycle a set distance to raise funds for FIRES research.

Bake Sales & Car Boot Sales

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Our mission to raise £50,000 began in September 2024 with Sam’s Big Scoot – an incredible 50-mile kick scoot from Aston University to Sam’s hometown of Derby. Over three days, our team of heroes were joined by leading UK FIRES experts, including doctors, researchers, and scientists, all coming together to raise awareness and vital funds.

We are just £10,000 short of our £50k mission!

Our next Sam's Big Scoot is on Saturday 19 September to Sunday 20 September 2026! We will be scooting the same route as last time, but over two days not three! If you would like to sign up just drop us a message!

We're registered with CHARITY CHALLENGE, which offers hundreds of challenges to choose from - so you're bound to find the perfect one for you! Just select Sam’s Superheroes Foundation when you sign up!

We're also continually hosting and taking part in fundraising events throughout the year - bringing people together, raising awareness, and driving forward the research and family support we urgently need.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are the UK’s only charity focused solely on NORSE and FIRES - rare, catastrophic, life-threatening epilepsies. Your gift helps us to:

Advance UK-led research: We fund, support, and advocate for UK research alongside collaborating with families, clinicians, researchers, and epilepsy organisations worldwide to deepen understanding, discover new treatments, and find a cure - so no other family has to endure the pain of the devastating outcomes NORSE and FIRES brings.

Support families facing NORSE and FIRES: We offer practical guidance, peer connection, and small grants to help families through hospital, rehabilitation, education, and life at home after discharge.

Support children’s wellbeing, beyond NORSE/FIRES: We fund animal-assisted and creative therapies, including Daisy’s Therapy Dog visits across Derbyshire, bringing calm, comfort, and hope to children facing tough times.

Every donation brings us closer to scientific breakthroughs while providing comfort and relief for children and families battling this condition, and those children who are facing challenging times.
